VIRTUAL VETERINARY VISIT WITH DR. SALVO

WHEN NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET

WHEN NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET

WHEN NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET

Going to the vet for one pet while leaving another at home can be distressing for everyone! Alternatively, bringing another pet "for moral support" can also be just as stressful. Virtual visits eliminates both of these scenerios at once!

CATS OFTEN HAVE THEIR OWN OPINION!

WHEN NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET

WHEN NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET

Cats in particular are not typically fans of a ' car ride', much less a cat carrier. A virtual visit eliminates this stress for cats. It also allows Dr. Salvo to see the cat in its own environment where he or she is more comfortable and would display more natural behaviors...which helps to better evaluate the current concern.

STAY HOME...RELAX

A virtual visit allows you and your pet to stay at home and not have to get into the car, drive through traffic or wait in a loud lobby.

About our founder...Dr. Karina Salvo

Dr. Salvo has been providing compassionate and comprehensive veterinary care to pets and their families for over 20 years. She started as kennel attendant at the age of 12years old working as a volunteer. Her passion gained momentum as the years went on, she progressed though the roles within the veterinary practice and spent 16 years as a veterinary technician. Prior to starting veterinary school, she was a senior technician at one of the largest veterinary speciality practices in Palm Beach County, Florida.

She graduated with a dual major in Biology and Chemistry at University of South Florida, masters in BioMedical Science and finally a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University. She completed a medical and surgical internship at New York City Veterinary Specialists ( now BluePearl) in 2007. Then worked as a Medical Director of Medical and Emergency Services for one of the largest privately owned veterinary practices in New York City. she then decided to open her own practice.

She started with house calls within the Belle Harbor/Rockaway Beach/Breezy Point area and was working on opening PawPrints Animal Medical Centre PC on Beach 116th in the Rockaways. The landlord eventually never signed the permit to be able to open after a full renovation...in the meantime, she opened around the corner ( a second location)...10 days later...October 31, 2012...Superstorm Sandy hit and destroyed BOTH locations, as well as all of the Rockaways.

During her evacuation and rebuilding she decided to continue her education within Eastern Practice. She completed her training at one of only two accredited Integrative Medicine Training Universities in North America; The Chi University and Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute. She is trained in acupuncture, tui-na, food therapy, palliative and end of life care, spinal manipulation and canine rehabilitaion.

In 2014, the Rockaways were still under construction and she was still fighting with insurance, as most resident were...and both locations needed complete renovation, which the landord was unwilling to participate in. So, she returned to her native hometown and shortly thereafter assumed the role of Vice President of the local Veterinary Society where she continues her role. During her downtime she enjoys snorkeling, going to the gym, gardening or anything outdoors and of course spending time with her Dogo Argentino, Maceo, Frenchie Barkely and 17 year old yorkie, Mr. Nico!

Acupuncture & Laser

In this photo, Dr. Salvo is  performing acupuncture on Charlie the cheetah at a large cat santuary in South Florida. Charlie, unfortunately has passed on due to kidney failure, but at the time had arthritis and needed some relief, so acupuncture and laser therapy sessions helped him live out the rest of his days more comfortably.

Spinal Manipulation

Dr. Salvo is trained in a variety of integrative therapies, to include acupuncture, spinal manipulation (aka 'chiropractic'), rehabilitation,  tui-na, palliative & end of life care.

In this photo collage, she is performing spinal manipulation on Kevin the 145 lb Bull Mastiff! ( yes...she has no shoes on while on top of the bail platform as Kevin nearly pushed her off a few times and Dr. Salvo nearly lost balance...so, the shoes came off!)

Reproduction & Neonatal Care

One of Dr. Salvo's focuses, besides general and integrative care is reproduction and neonatal care.  Dr. Salvo focuses her reproduction practice for preservation and responsible breeders.  From performing transcervical insemination, semen analysis, litter exams and teaching decades long breeders of the updated and newest standards of care and nutrition to also staying up together with those having trouble with birthing to nursing...Dr. Salvo remains dedicated to the highest of standards.

Elite Fear Free Professional

Dr. Salvo is an Elite Fear Free Professional, always striving to maintain a fear free environment within her practice and at home for her patients.  Although her patients LOVE to see her, sometimes the car ride over or the carrier can be scary...therefore, a virtual visit is the best option! This is little 'meatball'...at the time, one of only a few handful remaining in the world...a cub clouded leopard who is now a part of the species preservation program.

Rehabilitating local wildlife

Dr. Salvo has worked with the SouthEastern Raptor Center and other wildlife centers to help rehab birds of prey. In this photo Dr. Salvo is holding a Red tailed Hawk that needing ' imping'. This is a technique that repairs missing feathers by gluing donor feathers to the shaft of where the missing feather would be. This helps to protect the new feather that would grow in and eventually replace the donor!
